Purple Martins Landlords and Bluebird Managers Team Up

It is no secret that many martin landlords are bluebird managers and that many bluebird managers are martin landlords.

Why not?

The management is almost the same. Martin folks and bluebird folks all fight the same battle against the bane of our existence, House Sparrows. Both groups are dedicated to the preservation of a bird species. Much of what is known and learned in each species' interest can easily be communicated to the other interest.

So, with all this in mind, today, we are making a wonderful announcement in hopes of uniting both Purple Martin landlords and Bluebird managers by bringing bluebird managers their own chair here at the Round Table.

Up until recently, we provided a conference/forum called "Branded Bluebird" that was originally host moderated by our martin friend, Kenny Kleinpeter. He recently passed the reins to Evelyn Cooper.

Since Evelyn is the Founder and a past president of the Louisiana Bayou Bluebird Society (LBBS), we invited LBBS to join the Round Table Conferences as a group similar to what we have for martin landlords in the Wing to Wing Conferences. In doing so, we have created a new header on the index page of conferences called The Bluebird Conferences. Inside this new header, we have moved Branded Bluebird, complete with all past postings, and are now are introducing our newest member of the Round Table family members, The Louisiana Bayou Bluebird Society.

The The Louisiana Bayou Bluebird Society Mission

The Louisiana Bayou Bluebird Society is dedicated to the protection, propagation, and enjoyment of the Eastern Bluebird and other native cavity nesting birds. Our mission is to assist in monitoring and increasing the population of the these birds by participation in a statewide nestbox program; to educate and inform the people of our state on the ecology and management of the Eastern Bluebird through schools, clubs, and other organizations; to conduct research on the Eastern Bluebird and it's habitat selection; and to cooperate and coordinate with other organizations with purposes similar to those set forth herein.

As you can read, their mission is to cooperate and coordinate with other birding organizations. We here at the PMSNA are in complete agreement with their mission. Here, at the PMSNA, our mission can be interpreted as the "bird is the bottom line." We stand by this. So, with great pride, The Purple Martin Society, NA welcomes The Louisiana Bayou Bluebird Society today to the RTCs.

Please go to the Round Table Conferences Opening Page, scroll down the list of conferences to the header, The Bluebird Conferences, and see what all the excitement is about.

And, if you are a part of a martin club or organization, and would like to take a permanent seat here at the Round Table, email info@purplemartins.com and perhaps, we can help you in your mission in bird conservation.
