.....WHEREAS, Members of the Purple Martin Landlords of North Texas are playing an important role in conserving the natural heritage of the Lone Star State; and

.....WHEREAS, Purple martins that nest east of the Rocky Mountains rely entirely on housing that is supplied by humans; they are
especially dependent, therefore, on the knowledgeable and dedicated efforts of volunteer landlords for their survival; and

.....WHEREAS, Texas is a favorite home for purple martins, many of whom breed here after spending the winter in Brazil; thousands of Texans put up homes to accommodatø these birds, which will return to the same housing year after year if it is managed properly; and

.....WHEREAS, Boasting a large and active membership roster, the Purple Martin Landlords of North Texas promotes the conservation of this species by sponsoring educational programs and by supporting research erforts by such organizations as the Purple Martin Conservation Association; and

.....WHEREAS, The native flora and fauna of Texas are a priceless and irreplaceable treasure, and those who work to preserve them are contributing immeasurab1y to the richness of this state, to the advancement of scientific knowledge, and to the enjoyment of present and future generations of Texans; now, therefore, be it

.....RESOLVED, That the Purple Martin Landlords of North Texas be honored for their ourstanding dedication to conserving this indigenous species and that they he extended sincere best wishes for conntinued success in their admirable endeavors.
